Lock haven express obituaries kodish12/30/2023 ![]() She belonged to the Immaculate Conception Church in Lock Haven where she was choir member and Eucharistic Minister for many years.Įleanor was a member of the Belles Springs Golf Club where she and her husband played for over 30 years.ĭuring her years as an educator, Eleanor was honored by being presented with the Outstanding Educator Award from Mansfield University, where she also served two terms as a member of the Alumni Board. She was proud of her many years as a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary organization for women educators. She was on the board of directors for The Friends of the Ross Library. Twenty-seven wonderful years were spent in the beloved Avis Elementary School, as a classroom teacher and later as principal of the school.Įleanor was a lifetime member of the Avis PTO, AARP, and the Ross Library in Lock Haven. She taught one year in Corning, NY, before being married, and in 1954 began a teaching career in the Jersey Shore School District, where she worked until retirement in 1981. She earned a master’s degree in Elementary Administration from Penn State in 1973. She graduated from Mansfield State Teachers College, as it was known then, in 1947, with a degree in Elementary Education. Kodish, who passed away on March 14, 2012.Įleanor attended a one-room schoolhouse for eight years in Middletown Center, PA, graduating from Rush High School in Rush, PA, in 1943. She was married for 64 years to her college sweetheart, Raymond A. November 5, 1925, to Stephen Douglas Jones and Clara Melissa (Anderson) Jones. Kodish’s Toyota was entering the right curve in the roadway and he saw the Ford heading straight toward him in his lane of travel, police said. Trooper Jeffrey Tillinghast said Keefer was heading west on Renovo Road when he entered a left curve in the road and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to enter the opposing lane of travel. Police said they did not know if the child was restrained.Īll three occupants of Kodish’s 2016 Toyota Camry were wearing seatbelts, police said. The coroner said officials are awaiting toxicology tests to make that determination.Īccording to the police report, neither Keefer nor Baker was wearing a seatbelt. State police at Lamar could not confirm reports that drugs were found in Keefer’s 2003 Ford Focus or that he may have been under the influence. The little boy’s status could not be confirmed by Geisinger officials, however, the coroner reported the toddler had not suffered serious injuries and was expected to be released on Monday. They were also transported to Geisinger, where Amber was reported in critical condition Monday. Baker, 35, of Greencastle, and Keefer’s 3-year-old son - were also injured. Two passengers in the Keefer auto - Amber L. Hanna said the cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Clinton County Coroner Zach Hanna. Their car got caught in the long line of traffic due to the accident and took a detour to get home, not knowing that it was Richard and his family involved in the accident.Īlso killed in the violent head-on crash was the other driver, Robert Keefer, 31, of Lock Haven. They are the sons of Eleanor Kodish of Lock Haven and the late Ray “Coach” Kodish.Įleanor was also at the festival and was traveling home with other family. The Kodishes were returning from Smoked Country Jam, a three-day blue grass festival held in Cross Forks, a benefit for Lupus begun 15 years ago by Teresa and Ron Kodish, a brother to Richard. ![]()
